The Crucial Links
- The Course Outline
(including descriptions of my approach to the
subject, my expectations, the marking scheme, and so on)
- A Complete Syllabus
(in which I describe the range of topics and
concepts to be covered in the course, along with further comments on my style of presentation and approach)
- Wikispace
(information on how to get access to and use the 'Wikispace' - a chat facility - associated with the course)
- The Textbook - not yet posted (see Course Outline)
(suggested and essential readings in the course)
- Tests and Exams
(information on the timing and location of the mid-term tests and final exam, what to
expect, hints for studying and answering questions, and so forth)
- The Course Notes
(direct links to the notes which I have
written as a detailed accompaniment to the course. These notes contain some quite specific suggestions for
related textbook readings, plus guides to other resources and books. Please remember, however, that
these various resources -- my course notes, the
PowerPoint presentations, and any textbook readings -- are meant to be considered in concert!
Due attention should be paid to all three of them, as well as to my lecture-room discussions!)
- The PowerPoint Presentations -
(please note that the individually numbered PowerPoints do not necessarily match the
numbering of the sections of the course notes! PowerPoint files tend to be rather big, so I like to split them up
by sub-topic into smaller chunks for efficient downloading. A given section of course
notes may thus sometimes correspond to two or three PowerPoint files.)
- The PHYS P15 web page
(so that you can look back at
topics and issues covered in the Fall term course, formally a pre-requisite for PHYS P16)
